  Romania

Wyatt in Bucharest
A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

It was interesting to be in Romania at the time of their high school graduation season. On the day this photo was taken, we were in Sighisoara. We stared to see crowds gather early in the morning. Eventually it seemed as if the entire town had turned out for a celebration. The graduating seniors all wore plaid jackets and crowns of daisies. Later, as they climbed the hill to attend a church service, they carried armfuls of flowers given by well-wishers. We commented that we thought it would be awesome for communities in the states to support their graduates with this energy.

Notice in the photo below on the left that they ladies are caring the flowers upside-down. Romanians have special ceremonies concerning flowers. They always carry their flowers this way while transporting them. They also consider people it bad-luck to give an even number of flowers to someone. There is always an odd number.
