A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

This sign half-jokes about bears not being wanted on our playground. It isn't uncommon in Alaska for bears to wander into school-yards this time of year. They are generally not interested in our students but more in a quick route to a salmon stream or forest. In the past, I've chased bears off of playgrounds side-by-side with co-workers. Some schools in the area have playground evacuation procedures and drills in case a bear comes to their school.
