  Alaska

Wyatt in Juneau
A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

My Grandma Alta, of whom I have many fond memories, died over a year ago and her body was donated to medicine. She was returned to the family a few months ago in cremated form. Dad and his brother, Marty, thought about were they wanted to spread the ashes and they decided that Alaska would be a good place. Grandma lived here for a period of her interesting life. Dad and Marty came to Juneau in mid-August along with my brother, David, and Marty's wife, Alta Marie. Dad carried Grandma half-way up a mountain and Marty carried her the final half-mile. We had an informal ceremony and some of Grandma's ashes were spread in the wind. The rest of the ashes were buried in a location known only to those of us who were present. It was a beautiful day with a nice final resting-place for Grandma.
