A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

Last night I went to one of the most amazing concerts of my life. The main attraction  was a Yupik-Alaska Native singing quartet called Pamyua. They sang traditional Eskimo songs with drums, then they sang beautifully harmonized accapella Eskimo songs, and then they played harmonized-modernized Eskimo songs (backed up by a base-guitar and a didgeridoo). Their sound is beyond explanation. Another high point was seeing the local Tlingit youth sing and dance in traditional costume. I had hoped to get a better photo of them but I will keep an eye-out for a better opportunity.

By the way, if you have iTunes then you can find Pamyua's music in the collection.
