The trail we used for our
hunt was once a road up to the Bessie Creek Gold Mine (long
gone). The road was made with fallen trees which have
decayed and disappeared. In fact, there are very few signs
of it ever being a road. The trailhead itself is almost
impossible to find. About a mile up the trail from the
highway is an old rusty air compressor that lies where it
fell almost a hundred years ago. David and I marveled at the
journey this old beast must have taken and the frustration
of the men who lost it to the side of the trail. |
