A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

Along Copacabana, Ipanima, and throughout the entire city of Rio are mosaic sidewalks made from millions of chipped black and white stones imported from Portugal. Interesting patterns represent different parts of the city. Interestingly, it makes it easy for repairs to be done below the surface. The workers just rip up the stones in the areas they're working and replace them when the job is complete. I caught one of the repair jobs in action (photo below). I was later able to acquire a rock for my travel collection.
