Everyone is concerned about safety in Colombia. Bogotá remains pretty safe despite the country's "civil war".  They have a strong focus on security. There are places outside of the city you can visit that are safe too but visitors are generally encouraged to stay in the big cities. I found Colombia to be a well maintained and governed, modern city with friendly people. There is a great deal of national pride and stunning beauty.
