Wyatt in Caracas
A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

The mountain that parallels the city to the North is called El Avila. It blocks Caracas from the Caribbean Sea which is just 10 miles from my apartment. Most of El Avila is a Venezuelan National Park but at the very top of the mountain sits the tall, cylindrical Humboldt Hotel. The hotel was built in the 50s and used for many years. Now it is closed. The top photo was taken on a recent clear, crisp morning around 4 o'clock. The bottom photo was taken the same morning around 7 o'clock.
