  Venezuela

A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

Wouldn't you know that I would move to a supposedly sunny country during two of the rainiest years on record? The rains have been so bad in Venezuela this week that all the schools have closed until next Monday. As of last night, at least 14 people have died as a direct result of the weather. Most of that has to do with mud-slides. Venezuelans fear a repeat of 1999 when thousands were killed in a mud-slide after heavy rains like we are getting. The rains started when I was at camp didn't diminish the spirit of the weekend. The school called to warn me about traveling home Tuesday but I didn't get the message until I was almost back in Caracas. I have a few more photos from camp I will share in days to come.
