Wyatt in Caracas
A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

With raining season starting here, things are starting to perk up and look green again. One tree that seems to grow especially well in this climate is the palm. They are quite common in Caracas and the entire region. They can grow up to an impressive 80 feet and are quite useful. For example, macaws often can be seen sitting in their branches eating the fresh new growth. Palm hearts (the soft enter of the palm) is a common salad item in Venezuela. And, of course, they are a beautifully decorative way for people to put shade around their houses.
