A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

The glass-blowing process is amazing. The craftsman took the liquid glass from a 2000°F (1100°C) oven on the end of a long rod. He then molded it into a desired shape with special metal tools, hollowing it by blowing air through the rod. In making this piece, he used wet newspaper to add ash for color and style. Throughout the process, he continually placed it in the oven to keep it pliable. At one point, he twirled the heated glass on the rod like a baton to help with shaping. Though it started as a shapeless blob, it ended as a colorful vase.
