Expanzoo is located in a gorgeous valley near El Hatillo.  It has many interesting animals but they are the zoo's secondary purpose.  The main charter of the zoo is to provide jobs and skill training for special needs people.  In fact, most of the zoo's upkeep is provided by people with Down-syndrome and other needs.  Many of the animals have been donated to the zoo by people who thought these animals would make good pets then discovered their error.  This is one of the main reasons that there are tortoises in every stall.
