Wyatt in Caracas
A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

Next week I will be flying to Margarita, a small Venezuelan island 100 or so miles from Caracas. The best way to get there is to fly, leaving through the national airport. This airport photo was taken on a recent trip to pick up some friends. The central wall separates the secure area on the right from the waiting area. As you can see, the waiting area bustles with activity, mostly taxi drivers, luggage handlers, and people wanting to "help" you arrive. Believe it or not, it is much worse at the International Airport. The airport tax to fly within country is currently 11,000 Bs. I'm not certain where that tax goes because the airport is still decorated in the original colors of the 70s. I will get a "classic photo" of that someday.
