A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

Mid-July I had an unusual camping trip. I hiked way up to the Herbert Glacier near Juneau hoping to have some time to myself.  When I got to my regular camping spot, people were camping there.  I decided to move closer the the glacier.  I set up my tent as the rain began and barely got my stuff inside without getting too wet.  Just then, two tourist helicopters came swooping up the valley and tried to land within 50 yards of my spot.  I would have gotten a photo but I was too busy keeping from blowing away.  I decided to pack up and move just in case another helicopter wanted to land on me.  Unfortunately all my gear was soaked so I headed for home.  To top the day off, I twisted my ankle on the way out of the woods.  Despite all of that, I enjoyed the day.
