  Venezuela

A Daily Photo Essay of My Journey

Change retention in Venezuela is twice as bad as in the states because the currency uses such high numbers* and change is often issued in sale transactions. One problem is that the 50 B and 100 B are just about the same size..... big! Occasionally a 10 or a 20 will slip in there too. Sales clerks are always asking for coins but I often don't carry any because I don't like such bulky pockets. I dump change in a basket when I get home. Not sure what I'm going to do with so many coins.

*The current official exchange rate is now 1900 Bolivars to the dollar.
