When we got a little "free choice" time, I was able to talk some students into going to the National Arboretum with me. To my surprise, they really enjoyed it and kept them engaged for over an hour. They liked the names of the weird plants and all the odd shapes and smells. Their favorite plant of all was not particularly pretty but it had the fascinating name of "Swiss Cheese Plant".
