This is one of my favorite family items at my parent's house. It used to be traditional for the groom at a wedding to pay a small fee to the preacher performing the ceremony. My grandfather performed my parent's wedding ceremony and afterwards Grandpa Hugh gave my dad $5 with this note which says (in part), "Here is $5.00 for taking Betty off our hands." It now sits framed prominently in a cabinet in their house.
