As per tradition, we took our third grade students to camp to help them gather an appreciation for our great outdoors. They learned about insects, survival, living forests, nature weaving, and many other things. A favored activity (by both students and parent volunteers alike) is the hobo-stove lunch. Under strict guidance, we allow our students to cook their own hamburger lunch on the second day of camp. It is a lot of work to prepare for this meal but it is worth the effort to see the excitement and the tasty reward of a job well done.
