Juneau, Alaska

Despite the current crazy schedule of my life right now, I took a couple of hours from my morning and fulfilled a life-long goal. I was in a unique running race called the "Juneau Mud Run." In this event, the race begins and ends on Douglas Island, but participants are required to run from the island to the mainland and back, crossing the tidal mud-flats. Typically this route is submerged beneath sea-water, but a couple times a year there are tides low enough to allow foot passage. Of course, one can't get across the flats without wading through deep water, slipping over sea-weed, and sinking in smelly mud. I did the 4-ish mile course in pretty good time. I've never had so much fun.
