Jackson Pollack happens to be one of my favorite artists. It was with this in mind that I organized an after school opportunity for some of my students called "Messy Art". Basically, students flicked tempera paint at large sheets of paper and made wonderful designs. Over the course of five weeks I invite all my students to spend on Tuesday afternoon after school with me to do activities ranging from Lego building, to cooking, to knitting, to podcasting and so on. It is a wonderful way for me to get to know my students in a nonacademic setting.
